Calzadilla de Cueza

Since it rained all day and there wasn't much in the way of scenery, I didn't take any pictures today. But here is one of a T-shirt I saw in a shop that all peregrinos can identify with. We have had some "dolor" today. Rain is probably better than hot sun on the Meseta, but still it depresses your spirits when you reach the albergue wet and cold. And who would think we would be unhappy that we can't wash our clothes because there is no place to hang them to dry? Such a little thing! The forecast is for more of the same for the rest of the week. We did have perfect weather up until now, though, so no complaints!

  1. BTW, how are your feet? That is the first question everyone asks. Seems like this is a perfect day to enjoy local wine and rest. Also, what is the actual temperature and is it humid like Kentucky or more dry like New Mexico, or none of the above? Pamela is asking if you will have time to visit in Atlanta. My reply is you are just focusing one day at a time in Spain with today and tomorrow pretty much being the limits of your planning.

  2. Hi Bev
Was a little sad, to hear that the weather turn on you a little. But still glad you made it to a new destination. The t-shirt picture made me think of Guts and glory, but I’m sure it must be pain and gain. I would have to agree with Rodger sounds like a great day to just enjoy the local atmosphere. I am glad to hear no lighting strikes, I am a sound sleeper but at 03:00 the thunder made me sit up and look out last night. I do hope you are keeping notes, some time in the future it would be great to sit and read your descriptive thoughts as you take this pilgrimage. Praying for No Dolor but MUCH Gloria, and nice dry cool weather.

  3. Hi Bev, I am so excited that Karl blogged, just look at how your journey has changed lives. All of the Seekers are looking forward to Gwen and Jerry's wedding-it is a group thing. We all think of you and pray for you daily. We can't wait to have you back with us again. We knew you when.... Take care and God be with you. Linda

  4. Do you have rain gear? Boots, raincoats, etc? Is the road real muddy? If it is a warm, gentle rain seems duable. But, heavy rain...my oh my. I have trouble running from my car to a store in heavy rain. You have so much stamina and determination. You are having the opportunity to test yourself in ways you probably never thought possible. And enduring!! There is that book I'm talking about. Truly admire you, Bev. One day at a time. Love, Leslie

  5. I still have a little package to send to you and your partner travelers. If it takes about 10 days to get to you (that is a guess), can you give me an idea of where to send it? Shall I send it to postmaster or to a hotel or hostel?
Any suggestions? It is just a little thought from our class...

  6. I guess I should have been more specific in my prayers for cloudy weather--will now amend prayers to "cloudy but dry." :) Washing your clothes every day? Foo! I have long held that the lower your personal standards of cleanliness are, the easier life is. You're married, who cares is you're a bit stinky? :) Love you mom!

  7. Dear mb, thank you for your kind thoughts but there is no way to know where I will be in ten days, and I have to be very careful about what I acquire because I have to carry it on my back for many miles. Just your prayers will be most appreciated.
